Punjab and Haryana High Court clears way for admissions to begin for PU’s BA LLB 5-year course

Students, who studied Legal Studies in Class XII, will not get the additional four marks during admission to the BA LL B 5-year law course in Panjab University. On Monday, the Punjab and Haryana High Court rejected the petitions filed on this demand and upheld the decision taken by the Punjab University.

The division bench of Justice Jaswant Singh and Justice Sant Prakash cleared the way for admission in Panjab University’s BALLB five-year law course.

Earlier, the High Court had prohibited admission to these courses. It is to be noted that for the admission to Panjab University’s BA LLB Five-Year law course, the students with Legal Studies in Class 12 had approached the High Court for not giving them four extra marks.

In a petition filed by a student stated that Panjab University had earlier decided to give four additional marks to those students who have studied Legal Studies in Class 12 for admission to this course. A student petition was challenged in the High Court against it. After this, Panjab University decided not to give 4 additional marks to such students. Many students have moved the High Court continuously against this decision.

The petitioner students said that this decision of Panjab University has caused a lot of damage to them, because earlier their rank was better, but due to the decision to withdraw 4 points, now their merit has reduced and their rank has also come down. The Panjab University course has only 90 seats in general category. The petitioner had said that Panjab University is repeatedly changing the conditions of admission in this course, which is completely wrong.
