The High Court of Rajasthan has directed the State Government to ensure that necessary personal hygiene products are made available to women at Quarantine Centres.
The division bench comprising Chief Justice Indrajit Mohanty and Justice Satish Kumar Sharma was hearing a petition filed by Shraddha Gautam seeking directions to provide essential hygiene products such as sanitary napkins to women at quarantine Centres.
The petitioner submitted that since the people who are being quarantined are not allowed to go outside the centres, hence the women are unable to purchase sanitary napkins on their own. Due to the non-availability of sanitary napkins, these women have no other option but to use damp and dirty cloth further increasing the risk of spread of various types of infections.
The petitioner further informed the bench that other State Governments have been making similar arrangements for women at quarantine centres and the state governments have issued notifications in this regard.
The bench directed the State Government to consider the steps being taken by other States to ensure personal hygiene of women at quarantine centres.
