RRB NTPC exam: Letter petition in Allahabad HC seeks action against police for violence against protesting students

The Advocates who filed the petition said that the manner in which the students were thrashed by the police after entering the hostel and lounge in Baghada, Prayagraj, is absolutely wrong.

A letter petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court in connection with the lathicharging of students by police in the hostel and lounge in Baghada, Prayagraj on Tuesday.

The petition has demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter and action against the guilty policemen.

The letter petition has been filed by Advocates Shailjakant Tripathi, A.P. Pal, P.K. Jaiswar and two other lawyers.

The advocates said that the manner in which the students were thrashed by the police after entering the hostel and lounge in Baghada, Prayagraj, is absolutely wrong.

Advocate Shailjakant Tripathi said that through the petition, he has requested the High Court to take suo motu cognizance of the matter. Along with this, a committee has been constituted to investigate the matter and appeal for action against the guilty policemen.

On Tuesday, the students of Baghada had protested regarding the RRB NTPC recruitment exam results. During this, the students had come on the railway track near Prayag railway station and stopped a train. The students were forcibly removed from the track by the police.

The petitioners said that the police have acted brutally with the students. Around 90 students have been arrested in the police action. Similarly, around 200 students have been injured and 30 are seriously injured. Several videos of students brutally beating up by entering hostels and private lounges near Prayag station are going viral.

However, six police personnel have been suspended by SSP Prayagraj in this case. It consists of an inspector, and five constables. At the same time, action has also been taken against some students.
