43 children have died so far through drug abuse, SC told

The apex court on Thursday (July 5) asked Central government what steps have been taken for the implementation of national action plan for children on drugs, alcohol and substance abuse amongst children.

The bench comprising CJI Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud was hearing the PIL raising concern over the drugs, alcohol and substance abuse amongst children and urging formulation of national action plan to tackle the issue.

During today’s hearing, the bench was informed that 43 children have died due to drugs, alcohol and substance abuse.

The matter was posted for next hearing to August 20.
