The Supreme Court today issued notice to the central Bureau of Investigation on a bail plea of Uttar Pradesh Politician DP Yadav on medical grounds.
DP Yadav has been convicted for life sentence in a murder case of Ex-MLA Mahendra Singh Bhati and is currently serving his sentence in the Dehradun jail. Bhati had been shot dead in December 1992 and Yadav had been convicted and sentenced for life imprisonment in the said case in 2015.
The bench comprising Justice L Nageswara Rao, Jutice Abdul Nazeer and Justice Sanjeev Khanna has directed the CBI to submit its reply within a week.
Yadav had previously been granted interim bail to undergo a spinal surgery at the Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital, Ghaziabad after which he surrendered as per the Courts order.
Advocate Vikram Chaudhari, appearing for Yadav submitted that DP Yadav had been complaining of post operative complications and submitted the reports of Yadav from Yashoda Hospital. He further sought directions from the bench to the State on the reasons for opposing the petition.
Yadav had filed a bail plea last year before the bench headed by Former Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, which was rejected by the bench with a direction to the authorities take proper care of Yadav within the jail premises.
