New Delhi: The Supreme Court today refused to order a stay on the Income Tax proceedings against Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivkumar.
The bench of Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and Justices A.S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian granted more time to the IT department to file its reply in case of undisclosed wealth discovered in a raid conducted at Sivkumar’s premises in 2017.
In his plea, Shivakumar has challenged the validity of the Karnataka High Court’s order of November 2019, which dismissed his criminal revision petition against the order passed by the Additional Sessions Judge, Bengaluru, rejecting his plea for discharge in a complaint filed by deputy director, Income Tax investigation for having committed an offence under the tax laws and provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

The court, in July 2020, had issue notice to the IT department. However, it refused to stay the proceedings against him.
