SCAORA Seeks Suggestions From Its Members On Webinar For E-Filing & Virtual Functioning Of SC

Mr. Joseph Aristotle, Secretary of Supreme Court Advocates on Record Association (SCAORA) on Saturday has written to the members of the association seeking their suggestions/ grievances for the webinar to be conducted by the Supreme Court registry with respect to e-filing court proceedings vide video conferencing, virtual functioning of court.

The letter reads as, “The EC of SCAORA had an exhaustive video conference meeting with the competent authority, the Secretary General and the concerned registrars on 15.04.2020 pursuant to which three separate helplines started functioning, e display board was made available, the SC App was relaunched etc.,

Immediately after the aforementioned meeting SCAORA had proposed to host a webinar with regard to e-filing, court proceedings vide video conference, the functioning of courts in future etc., to the competent authority of SC. The President also spoke to the Chairperson of the e-committee, with regard to the same and had requested for the concerned registrars and technical persons from SC to be an integral part of the webinar and also train the AORs for e-filing. The competent authority had agreed for the same and the Registry took some time to revert as they wanted to prepare the modules etc. Meanwhile, unfortunately some staff of SC fell ill and the complete premises of SC and the chamber blocks were sanitised and when SCAORA was still following it up they requested for sometime due to paucity of staff However now after the press release of the interview with Dr. Justice D. Y. Chandrachud it appears that the SC will host a webinar and invite all the members of the bar, which we will reconfirm and keep the esteemed members appraised off.

The Secretary said that the SCAORA has been pursuing the matter for two weeks now and they have requested the concerned registrars and officials to be panel member on webinar which is causing delay in the hosting of webinar. He also said that the webinar will be concluded with an address of Dr. Justice D. Y. Chandrachud.

The competent authority has called for suggestions from the members which they can give at the time of webinar and only there after the final version of notification with respect to e-filing, court proceedings vide video conferencing, virtual functioning of court will be issued, said the letter.
