Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai promises medical insurance, betterment of canteen, library, says he’s not a politician and will work for SCBA family

Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai, who is contesting for the post of President, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), promised medical insurance, new chambers, world-class library and canteen for the bar if he is elected the SCBA President.

Participating in the debate for SCBA President and Secretary election organised by the SCBA on Wednesday, Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai promised annual medical insurance of Rs 2 crore and term insurance of Rs 1 crore to every lawyer from July 2024. He promised to provide training facilities for arbitration and mediation. 

He said that with the help of the government, residential facilities will be given to the lawyers. He added nearly 300 chambers will be constructed for Supreme Court lawyers on the land allotted near ITO. 

He further assured to develop mobile applications for legal research work, and a world-class Supreme Court library. He promised better health facilities along with the arrangement of ambulances, ICU and test lab. He said a better canteen and a world-class sports complex will be built. Additionally, he pledged to improve coordination with the Supreme Court registry and the system for listing and cases filing. 

Stressing that the SCBA was not just a brick-and-mortar organisation but a family, Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai said he will not promise anything he cannot deliver, and he does not have any agenda to make others fall. He stated he has donated Rs 13.5 crore through his India Legal Foundation. He mentioned he has never been a member of any political party. 

The SCBA elections will be held on May 16, 2024, Thursday. Along with Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, Senior Advocate Adish Chandra Aggarwala (incumbent president), Senior Advocate Priya Hingorani, Advocate Neeraj Srivastava, and Advocate Tripurari Ray, are contesting for the post of President.
