Supreme Court Collegium proposes elevation of 1 advocate, 1 judicial officer to Chhattisgarh High Court as judges

The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on September 1, 2021, has approved the proposal for elevation of advocate Sachin Singh Rajput and judicial officer Deepak Kumar Tiwari as judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court.  

The Chhattisgarh High Court has a sanctioned strength of 22 Judges (17 Permanent Judges and 5 Additional Judges) having its jurisdiction over the territories of the state. According to the list of Judges by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, there are currently 12 sitting judges (permanent) and 2 additional judges at Chhattisgarh High Court.

After the approval of recommended Strength, the Chhattisgarh High Court will have 16 sitting judges.
