Supreme Court Collegium recommends elevation of judicial officer Mohammad Yousuf Wani as Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh High Court judge

The appointment of judicial officer Mohammad Yousuf Wani as an additional judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has been recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium.

The Collegium in its resolution noted that judicial officer Mohammad Yousuf Wani joined judicial service on December 9, 1997 and has been serving as a judicial officer in various capacities. 

The collegium noted that the inputs placed by the government show him in good light and state him to be having good personal and professional image.

The Collegim also noted that there were no adverse has come to notice with regards to his integrity. The Annual Confidential Reports of the officer are consistently of a high order.

The Collegium further noted the positive opinion given by consultee judges regarding the suitability of Wani as a judge of the High Court.

The Collegium while recommending Wani for the post, noted that a senior judicial officer’s name has not been recommended and that she has made a representation requesting her elevation.

The Collegium, however, said it agreed with the decision of High Court Collegium in overlooking her name.
