Supreme Court Collegium recommends 5 judicial officers for elevation to Jharkhand High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium has proposed for elevation of five Judicial Officers as Judges of Jharkhand High Court. 

The Collegium, in a meeting held on September 1, 2021, proposed the following names:

1. Pradeep Kumar Srivastava

2. Gautam Kumar Choudhary

3. Ambuj Nath

4. Navneet Kumar

5. Sanjay Prasad

The Jharkhand High Court was established in 2000, when the Permanent Bench of Patna High Court at Ranchi became the Jharkhand High Court, upon reorganization of Bihar. The Jharkhand High Court has a sanctioned strength of 25 Judges (19 Permanent Judges and 6 Additional Judges).

As per List of Judges by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, as on September 1st 2021, at present the Jharkhand High Court is functioning with a strength of 15 Permanent Judges with no Additional Judges, if these names are approved by the Centre, the High Court would reach a strength of 20 Judges with 5 vacancies.
