Supreme Court Collegium recommends repatriation of Justice Atul Sreedharan to his parent High Court in Madhya Pradesh

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the repatriation of Justice Atul Sreedharan, currently serving as a judge at the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, to his parent High Court in Madhya Pradesh.

On April 7, 2016, Justice Sreedharan was appointed as a judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

In early 2023, he sought transfer on the grounds that his elder daughter was set to commence her legal practice and would be appearing before the District Court and the Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

In order to avoid any potential conflict of interest and uphold the integrity of the judiciary, Justice Sreedharan sought transfer from his parent High Court.

Acknowledging his concerns, the Apex Court Collegium recommended his transfer to the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on March 28, 2023.

Born on May 24, 1966, Justice Sreedharan completed his law degree and began his legal practice in 1992. He worked under Senior Advocate Gopal Subramanium before practicing independently in Delhi and later in Indore.

Over the years, he has represented various government and private entities, specialising in civil, criminal and service matters.
