The Supreme Court on Thursday came down heavily on a petitioner seeking registration of a first information report (FIR) against some Delhi High Court judges over judgments rendered by them.
The Bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi questioned the petitioner under which law were the sitting High Court judges liable to be prosecuted for giving verdicts against certain people, such as the petitioner.
Judges could not be prosecuted on the basis of such perverse and illegal petitions, it added.
Noting that it was not able to understand the issue clearly, the Bench appointed Senior Advocate S Muralidhar as Amicus Curiae in the matter, and directed that paper book of the petition be provided to him.
