Supreme Court refuses security to Special Judge SK Yadav who delivered judgment in Babri demolition case

New Delhi (ILNS): The Supreme Court today refused to provide security to special judge SK Yadav, who had given the verdict in a criminal case related to the Babri Masjid demolition and acquitted all 32 accused in the case, including senior BJP leaders LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti.

Yadav, who had delivered the judgment on his last day in office, had sought extension of his personal security over the sensitivity of the case.

The bench of Justices R. F. Nariman, Navin Sinha and Krishna Murari was considering the former judge’s request to continue his personal security in view of the sensitivity of the case decided by him on his last day in office.

On September 30, the Special CBI judge Surendra Kumar Yadav in Lucknow, in his 2,000-page judgment, said that the evidences against the accused were not strong enough and the Babri Mosque demolition incident was not pre-planned. As per the order, no concrete evidence was found against the accused, instead the accused tried to stop the rampaging mob.
