Olympic wrestler Sushil Kumar on Sunday sent to six-day police custody, in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old fellow Wrestler at Chhatrasal Stadium.
Metropolitan Magistrate at Rohini Court Divya Malhotra granted Delhi Police six-day custody of two-time Olympic medallist Sushil and his accomplice Akay Kumar, who were arrested from Mundka area this morning, said Sushil’s Counsel BS Jakhar.
The accused had been absconding for about 20 days.
According to sources, on the intervening night of May 4 and 5, a quarrel broke out between some Wrestlers at Chhatrasal Stadium, which turned violent. The injured wrestlers had to be rushed to the Trauma Centre, Civil Lines, where one of the wrestlers, former junior national champion Sagar Rana, succumbed to his injuries.

Police were on the lookout for Sushil Kumar for his alleged involvement in the death. The Delhi Police had even announced a reward of ₹ one lakh for information leading to the arrest of Sushil Kumar. Another reward of ₹ 50,000 was announced on Ajay Kumar’s arrest.
