The High Court of Delhi will hear on March 16, a petition filed by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, against the summons issued by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), asking him to appear for questioning in the lands-for-job scam case.
The petition will be heard on Thursday by the Single-Judge Bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma.
As per CBI, it had issued three notices to the Rashtriya Janata Dal leader, the last one on March 13, seeking his appearance before the national agency for questioning. However, he skipped the summons, added the agency.
CBI had issued three notices to Yadav on February 28, March 4 and 11. However, he was yet to appear for questioning.
A charge sheet was filed in the case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on October 10, 2022 against 16 persons.
CBI had said in the charge sheet that various residents of Bihar were appointed as substitutes in Group-D posts during 2004 to 2009 in different zones of Railways located at Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hajipur.
In lieu of the same, the individuals themselves or their families transferred their land in the name of family members of then Union Minister of Railways Lalu Prasad Yadav and a company namely M/s AK Infosystems Private Limited, which was subsequently taken over by Yadav’s family, said the agency, adding that no advertisement or public notice was issued for the appointment of substitutes in Zonal Railways and undue haste was shown in processing their applications.
Earlier in the day, Special Judge Geetanjali Goel at the Rouse Avenue Courts granted bail to former Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, along with their daughter and RJD MP Misa Bharti, in the same case.
