The High Court of Telangana has issued notice to M. Bhupal, MLA from Narayankhed for organizing birthday celebrations in violation of lockdown orders.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy was hearing a petition filed by M. Vittal, a social worker seeking action against the MLA for celebrating his birthday violating lockdown order.
The petitioner submitted that the MLA had organized a birthday party on May 7, which was attended by nearly 500 persons which was in gross violation of lockdown rules announced by the Central and State Government.
The petitioner further submitted that no social distancing norms were complied with and no guest was seen wearing a mask at the event thus further increasing the risk of spread of COVID 19.
The bench has sought response from the MLA and issued notices to Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP, Sangareddy SP, Sangareddy Collector, Sangareddy Municipal Commissioner seeking an explanation as to how the MLA was permitted to organize the event in violation of lockdown rules.
