In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the judiciary, Maharaja Bir Bikram University has conferred an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of Letters) to Justice T Amarnath Goud, judge of the Tripura High Court.
Justice Goud was conferred the coveted honour during the university’s first convocation ceremony held in Agartala, Tripura on Thursday.
Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu presented the Honorary degree to Justice Goud in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
Justice Goud, who hails from Hyderabad, was given the coveted honour, in recognition of his remarkable service and judicial excellence.
He previously served as a judge in the Telangana High Court before being transferred to the Tripura High Court.
He is currently the Executive Chairman of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority and has also served as the Acting Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court for a period of six months.
Justice Goud garnered national attention when he disposed of an astounding 92,000 cases, averaging 109 cases per day.
More than 99.9 percent of these verdicts went unchallenged, reflecting high levels of acceptance and satisfaction among both litigants and legal professionals. Of these, 362 judgments have been officially reported.
