The Uttarakhand High Court has recently directed the counsel for the state government to inform the Court, whether a final decision has been taken, or not with respect to the construction of an underground pipeline below the chak road in Village Nasirpur Kalan, Tehsil and District Haridwar.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Narayan Singh Dhanik heard a PIL filed on the ground that the public road in Village Nasirpur Kalan, Tehsil and District Haridwar, is generally submerged under water.
It is alleged by the petitioner that the houses built on both sides of the road do not have a drainage system. Therefore, the household water tends to flow on to the road.
According to the objection filed by the State, the State is proposing to construct an underground pipeline below the chak road, which will carry the water to a pond which would be constructed under the MGNREGA Scheme in Bachat Land (save land) left after the consolidation operation are over.
“However, the decision still needs to be taken with regard to the said proposed construction,” observed the Court. Therefore, the Court directed the counsel for the state to inform the Court, whether a final decision has been taken, or not. The matter has been listed for January 5, 2002 for further hearing.
