The Uttarakhand High Court has disposed of a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking investigation into an alleged illegal land transfer in Dehradun.
The petitioner alleged that a plot of land was wrongly exchanged by the Sub Divisional Magistrate in March 2022.
The Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Vivek Bharti Sharma disposed of the PIL after learning that the State Government had cancelled the exchange order in July 2024.
The court directed the Revenue Department Secretary to investigate and take necessary action against those responsible for irregularities within three months.
The court’s decision came after considering submissions from both sides, including the petitioner’s argument that an investigation was still necessary despite the cancellation.
