The Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud has today inaugurated ten new virtual High Courts in 10 different districts of Orissa.
CJI who addressed the event virtually said that very soon by March 2023,Orissa would be the very first State on India which would have virtual High Courts in all its districts.
The CJI mentioned that Orissa is going to be the first state which will have a High Court in every district.
CJI Chandrachud said that by March 2023,the only state in the Country which can boast of a High Court in every district would be Odisha.
Talking about the virtual courts,the CJI mentioned that most of the Odisha residents will not have to travel even hours away from their home to reach the High Courts. Lawyers from any part of the State would be benefitted.
The Chief Justice of Orissa High Court S Muralidhar said this is a historic moment as it is going to be the first State to have a virtual High Court.
On the occasion the CJ Muralidhar said that it is truly historic moment for Orissa and for the State judiciary. This would mean that the High Court would not just metaphorically but would actually make its presence felt in all the districts in the State.
The Chief Justice of the State Justice further explained that these virtual courts will help advocates and litigants to file cases virtually in the High Court.
It was also said that the Virtual courts will have trained personnel and staff, who will aid the functioning and will help an advocate to file case, get it numbered, list it and even mention it.
Till now an advocate had to travel all the way to Cuttack to do all this but now they will do it from their own districts.
