The Division Bench of Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya was hearing a petition filed by Biswanath Chowdhury alleging that a law college was established in another educational institute in contravention of Bar Council of India norms.
The CJI said this during arguments in the case examining the threat posed by high-tension powerlines in Rajasthan to birds such as the endangered Great Indian Bustard and similar other birds.
The petition has been filed by All India Institute of Medical Sciences through Advocate VSR Krishna alledging that the strike was illegal and violates the Industrial Disputes Act.
On Tuesday, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Karti Chidambaram, said the accused was discharged on December 11 and sought an adjournment for two months.
The plaintiff had also submitted that even after asking the website to take the articles down, no action was taken, following which he urged the Court to pass an order of ad-interim injunction to remove these defamatory articles from all media platforms and websites.
