Supreme Court stays conditions set for Azam Khan’s bail

The Supreme Court has today put a stay on the bail conditions imposed on Samajwadi Party MLA Azam Khan by the Allahabad High Court  directing the District Magistrate of Rampur for taking possession of land attached to the Jauhar University campus.

The vacation bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Bela M Trivedi said that the order by the Allahabad High Court sounds very disappropriate and looks more like a decree than a condition of bail.

The Supreme Court bench has also asked for a response from the Uttar Pradesh Government in this matter related to the Jauhar University.

Kapil Sibal , who appeared for Azam Khan apprised the court that the District Magistrate of Rampur has issued a notice seeking to vacate buildings of the University and seeks to demolish it.
