BJP’s MP sues Rahul Gandhi for Chowkidar chor hai comment

The apex court will hear a contempt plea filed by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi against Congress President Rahul Gandhi on April 15.

Lekhi moved the apex court over the Rahul Gandhi’s alleged remarks saying that apex court said “Chowkidar chor hai” in the rafale review petition.

Appearing for Lekhi, former Advocate General and Senior Adv Mukul Rohatgi mentioned the matter before the apex court.

Lekhi tweeted: “Filed a Criminal Court of Contempt against serial offender Rahul Gandhi. He attributed his own statements as Court’s verdict. Misrepresenting and lowering the dignity of the SC. Vilifying the Constitutional authorities!”

The SC had on March 10 rejected the preliminary objections raised by the Centre and said it “will hear the Rafale review petitions on merits”. It had also said that it will look into the published documents while adjudicating it.

In the election rallies, Gandhi had welcomed the SC’s decision to review its Rafale order. He has also said that once Congress govt comes into the Centre, he will order probe into the Rafale fighter jet deal and all those who will be implicated will be punished and no one will be spared.
