Additional Solicitor General (ASG) PS Narasimha on Friday (August 24) informed the apex court that the water level of Mullaperiyar dam has been reduced by 2-3 feet below the maximum limit of 142 feet.
The ASG was responding on the plea filed by Russel Joy seeking a direction to Tamil Nadu govt to hold back the water level in the Dam as the floods in Kerala have wreaked havoc.
The bench of CJI Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud posted the matter for next hearing to September 6 and directed State of Karnataka to appear.
