Supreme CourtThe apex court on Friday (Sep 7) was informed that nine states have submitted status reports stating that they have complied with the July 17 Supreme Court guidelines on mob lynching.
The bench comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud directed the remaining states to submit compliance report within one week.
During today’ hearing, Attorney General KK Venugopal informed the bench that Centre has constituted a committee comprising group of ministers to frame a law in consonance with July 17 guidelines.
The bench was hearing a plea raising concern over the incidents of mob lynching by the cow vigilante groups.
The matter will be heard again on Sep 13.
