The Supreme Court committee of road safety on Thursday submitted a report to the Supreme Court saying that between 2013 and 2017, more than 30,000 persons have died in road accidents and no compensation has been paid in these cases.

The bench comprising Justice Madan B Lokur and Justices Deepak Gupta, Hemant Gupta told the Central government to file response on the report.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Dr S Rajaseekaran, an orthopedic surgeon seeking enforcement of road safety norms and appropriate treatment of accident victims.

The matter will be next heard in January.
