The Supreme Court on Monday was told by the Centre that a national regulator will be been set up as per the judgment in the Lafarge vs Union of India.
The Centre further told the bench comprising Justices Madan B Lokur, S Abdul Nazeer and Deepak Gupta that the national regulator will monitor everything. It will be comprised of a single person or certain number of members.
The bench was hearing a plea seeking protection and conservation of forests throughout the country, protection of wild life, ban on felling of trees and stoppage of depletion of underground water level.
