Supreme Court today held that there is no ground of FIR or a roving inquiry in the Rafale deal, dismissing the two review petitions against the December 14 judgment of the Supreme Court, giving clean chit to the Modi Government in its dealing with French firm, Dassault Aviation.

The Apex Court also closed the contempt petition against Rahul Gandhi for attributing his Chowkidaar remarks to the Supreme Court, saying he should conduct himself more carefully in the future.

The three judge bench comprising the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, Justice SK Kaul and Justice KM Joseph delivered the verdicts today, with Justice SK Kaul reading the judgment.

The two review petitions – one by former Union Ministers Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie and advocate Prashant Bhushan; and the other by Aam Aadmi Party and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh – had urged the apex court to review the dismissal of the prayer for a court-monitored investigation in the purchase of 36 Rafale aircrafts.
