The Supreme Court on Friday (Sep14) extended the interim relief to Nalini Chidambaram and restrained her to appear as witness before Enforcement Directorate (ED) which is probing the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam.
On August 3, the court had issued notice to ED and restrained it from taking any punitive action against Nalini.
During today’s hearing, the counsel appearing for ED sought three weeks time to file reply from the bench comprising Justices UU Lalit and Ashok Bhushan.
The Madras High Court had ordered Nalini to appear as witness before ED. But apex court had stayed the high court order.
The matter will be heard again after three weeks.
