The Supreme Court on Monday (April 8) adjourned the bail plea of ex-Congressman Sajjan Kumar to April 15.

Kumar has been convicted for a life term in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

The bench comprising Justices SA Bobde and S Abdul Nazeer said that since Kumar was convicted by a high court, it can’t take this lightly.

At today’s hearing, the Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta read the HC judgment saying that Kumar had arranged a mob to keep the CBI out until anticipatory bail was granted.

“Then CBI was allowed to leave, CBI had come to arrest thr petitioner, but was unable to do so because of the mob,” Mehta said.
