The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a bunch of petitions related to beef ban in Maharashtra.
The court gave its nod even as one of the member of the bench Justice Indu Malhotra recused herself, saying that she had represented a party earlier as a lawyer.
The court decided that the three petitions will be listed before an appropriate bench by CJI Ranjan Gogoi.
The petitions have challenged the beef ban in Maharashtra and have sought lifting of ban on beef. It has also sought decriminalisation of food habits thereby referring that people who consume beef should not be booked under any offence.
