The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed review petitions seeking to re-examine its December 14, 2018 verdict which said that there was no corruption in the Rafale fighter jets deal.
A three-judge bench comprising CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justices SK Kaul, KM Joseph said: “We find the review petitions are without any merit.”
The bench also said that no roving enquiry was needed into the deal and stated that no FIR needed to be filed.
The bench was acting on the clutch of petitions filed by former Union Ministers Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie, lawyer Prashant Bhushan and others seeking review of its December 14, 2018 verdict which had upheld the decision of the Narendra Modi government purchasing 36 Rafale jets from France.
The Supreme Court had then dismissed petitions seeking court-monitored investigation into alleged malpractices in purchasing of jets by emphasizing that there was no circumstance to question the decision-making process in the deal.
