The Supreme Court on Wednesday suggested the Centre to consider the possibility of creating a separate cadre of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for deployment at various Court complexes in the Country.
The Chief Justice-led bench of the Supreme Court, also comprising Justice BR Gavai and Justice Surya Kant while hearing a plea filed by activist Pradyuman Bisht, said that the court had asked the Centre to look into the possibility of creating a separate cadre of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for deployment in various Courts in order to prevent acts of violence in Court premises across the country.
The bench said that the acts of violence which took place at Tis Hazari Court complex could have been prevented had there been the deployment of CISF at Court complexes.
Senior Advocate Siddhartha Luthra, who was appearing as the Amicus, further urged that the Bar Council of India should also be consulted in the matter. Thereafter the bench issued notice to the Bar Council of India to file a reply within two weeks.
The CISF is currently posted inside the Madras High Court premises following a request by the Chief Justice of the High Court. The state police are posted outside though. CISF is also entrusted with security of the Delhi Metro, embassies and airports.
