The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its judgment on the assessment methods adopted in the main examination for the Haryana Judicial Service 2017.
The apex court reserved its judgment after taking note of the report submitted by retired SC judge, Justice A K Sikri. Justice Sikri’s report has it that the evaluation in the civil law exam was very stringent and the paper was too exhaustive to complete in the given fixed time.
In May this year, a bench comprising the then CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Deepak Gupta had asked the Justice Sikri to examine the answer scripts of candidates who appeared for Haryana Judicial Services examination. It had further directed the Punjab and Haryana High Court to submit answer sheets to Justice Sikri.
The apex court had passed the order on the plea filed by one Pranav Verma, seeking re-evaluation of the answer sheets of the candidates who appeared for Haryana Judicial Services examination and further directions to reduce the percentage of marks fixed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court administration for shortlisting the candidates for interview.
