SC seeks response from Centre, BCI on formulation of social security measures for women advocates

The Supreme Court on Monday sought replies from Centre and Bar Council of India on a plea which sought direction for formulation of a scheme ensuring social security measures for women advocates in coordination with respective state bar councils.

A bench comprising CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justices Deepak Gupta, Aniruddha Bose was hearing the plea filed by one advocate Indu Kaul.

Kaul said in the plea that the condition of women advocates remain vulnerable across the courts in India.

She has also sought a direction to the UP government to furnish details pertaining to the investigation in Darvesh Yadav murder case and further direction to UP Bar Council to disburse a compensation of Rs 25 lakhs to the family of slain lawyer.
