The Supreme Court on Friday (April 12) sought West Bengal government’s reply on a plea by the Customs Department alleging obstruction by police while inspecting the luggage of Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee’s wife Rujira Naroola at the Kolkata airport.
The Customs Department officials had lodged a complaint at the Kolkata police station alleging they were “willingly and deliberately blocked by the two women and local police” from discharging their functions under the Customs Act.
Naroola then had filed a plea in the Calcutta High Court contending that summons notice imposed on her by the Customs Department was illegal.
