The Supreme Court on Tuesday told Delhi government to file its response specifying the percentage of disabled-friendly buses it will ply.

The bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Deepak Gupta told the AAP government to file its reply within 6 weeks.

“File the reply within 6 weeks otherwise we will pass interim order,” the bench told the government.

At today’s hearing, the petitioner told the bench that there is no clarity as how many percentages of buses should be low floor buses.

The matter was listed for next hearing to July.

The bench was hearing a plea filed by activist Nipun Malhotra who works for the rights of differently-abled people and has contended that standard-floor buses are not differently-abled friendly, as they were fitted on a truck wheelbase, and their height made it difficult for differently-abled to board the vehicle.
