SC tells CBI investigation officers probing Unnao accident case to report before it at 12 pm today

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to adjourn the hearing pertaining to Unnao rape and accident to tomorrow and directed CBI Investigating Officers who are investigating the case to report before it at 12 pm today and inform it about progress in the case.

At today’s hearing, Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta informed the court that he spoke with CBI Officers who are investigating the case and they told him that they are in Lucknow and it wouldn’t be possible for them to reach Delhi by 12 pm today and asked for adjournment for tomorrow.

The court refused to adjourn the matter tomorrow asked SG to interact with Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director regarding the accident.

Supreme Court also said that if necessary, chamber hearing may take place and it is likely to transfer trials in the case. It further sought full details of investigation about the status in the case.

The apex court on Wednesday had taken suo moto cognisance of a letter written by the family of the Unnao rape victim alleging threats from Uttar Pradesh MLA Kuldip Sengar’s men.

In the letter to the CJI, the Unnao rape victim and her family members had alleged that the goons of Sengar were threatening to drag them in fake cases if they did not reconcile.
