The Supreme Court on Friday (Jan 11) directed Chief Wildlife Warden of all the states to submit a report mentioning age of all captive elephants to Centre.
The bench of Justices A K Sikri and S Abdul Nazeer also further directed the parties to exchange the affidavits filed by them adjourned the matter to April 12.
The court was hearing a plea filed by Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre and Ors raising concern over the ecological imbalance and seeking protection and conservation of forests throughout the country, protection of wildlife, ban on felling of trees and depletion of underground water level.
