In a major relief to lawyers, the Supreme Court has initiated to publish the cause list for cases scheduled on Monday on every Thursday of the previous week. Earlier, the court used to publish the cause list on Friday, leaving the weekend for the lawyers to make arrangement for their cases.

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has welcomed the step and termed it as a great initiative. “We are very happy. We have requested the SC to shift the publication of the cause list for Monday matters on Thursday, instead of Friday. The initiative has been operationalized on February 7. The cause list was uploaded on the Supreme Court website,” said Vikrant Yadav, Secretary, Supreme Court Bar Association. According to lawyers association, the publication of the cause list on every Friday of the week, did not allow advocates to make comprehensive arrangements to argue their respective case in the Supreme Court.

“Monday, is a very hectic day in the Supreme Court. Over the weekend, it is extremely difficult to prepare for the matters. In fact, for senior lawyers it is very important to judiciously manage their presence before various courts on the complex. But, with this initiative, things can be easily sorted,” said an advocate from the lawyers association.
