In a major jolt to Mamata Banerjee-led govt in West Bengal, the Supreme Court on Friday vacated interim protection given to former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar from arrest by CBI over his alleged role in sabotaging proofs in Saradha chit fund case.

The court granted seven days to Kumar to seek legal remedies.

The bench was hearing a plea by CBI seeking to arrest Kumar for questioning in the Saradha scam.

The apex court had on May 2 reserved its order whether to revoke its February order in which it had granted Kumar protection from arrest in the scam.
