The Supreme Court today said that the plea by Samajwadi party leader Azam Khan on seeking interim bail will be heard on Wednesday.
The bench of Justice L. Nageswara Rao was told by an advocate that Allahabad court has reserved its order on the application by Azam Khan on his bail.
The Supreme Court is aware of the fact that it has been about 137 days but no orders have come so far in this case.
Calling it a travesty of justice ,the apex court has decided to give a hearing on Wednesday.
Top Court noted that there are about 86 cases where the bail has been granted to Azam Khan
In his plea,the Samajwadi party leader has requested the Supreme Court for an interim bail to him in FIR bearing case no 312 of 2019 dated 19.09.2019 which is registered in Rampur .
Police station in Azeem Nagar,Rampur FIR had been registered against Azam Khan under section 420,467,468,471,447, 201 and 120 B of IPC. The SP leader has also been charged under section 3 of The prevention of Public property act.
The leader had informed the top court that earlier Allahabad court had reserved his bail till December 2021 but later the UP government submitted a new application with new set of facts and evidence and bail was heard again but is still pending.
Khan is currently in the Sitapur jail since February 2020 for still there are many cases against him.
