The Supreme Court has adjourned the bail application of Indrani Mukherjee upon ASG SV Raju’s request for time to file a counter. She was arrested in 2015 on charges of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora.
The High court had dismissed the bail plea after it gave a chance to Indrani Mukerjea’s lawyer to withdraw. Advocate Sana Khan, appearing for Mukerjea, said that she needed to take instructions from Mukerjea.
Mukerjea has filed the bail application on the merits of the case while stating that the entire case was based on accused turned approver Shyamvar Rai’s statement. Rai used to be Mukerjea’s driver and, according to the agency, he had witnessed her employer kill and dispose of her daughter’s body in Raigad district.
The CBI claimed that Sheena Bora was murdered by her mother Indrani Mukerjea, along with her former husband, Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver, Shyamvar Rai, who had turned an approver in the case, and her former husband, Peter Mukerjea in 2012.
The CBI claims that in 2012, Sheena was murdered by her mother Indrani Mukerjea along with her former husband, Sanjeev Khanna and all this was done in conspiracy with her former husband, Peter Mukerjea.
In an affidavit submitted by CBI have claimed that the order passed by the High Court of Judicature at Bombay denying bail to Mukherjea is just and proper and does not suffer from any legal infirmity.
They have further submitted that allegations against the petitioner are very serious and there is sufficient evidenceavailable on record to prove the charges against Mukherjea

Indrani Mukerjea’s advocate Sana Khan had on the previous argued ‘that according to Mumbai police, Rai was arrested with a firearm during a random Nakabandi being done in suburban Mumbai in 2015. It was during his interrogation that he had mentioned the murder. She further argued that Rai had later denied possessing any arms, which led to loss of his credibility and so the foundation of the case collapsed.’
