Giving a boost to building work, the Supreme Court on Friday lifted the ban on overnight construction activity in the Delhi-National Capital Region.
The court had put a complete bar on construction work in the region on November 4 last year in view of the drastic deterioration in air quality.
This order was modified on December 9 last year and construction activities banned between 6 pm and 6 am after the Central Pollution Control Board conveyed to the court that the complete restriction on building work could be lifted.
The court had then allowed construction work to take place during day time.
Hearing a builders’ plea today, a bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Deepak Gupta altered the earlier decision, saying the interim order on bar on construction work between 6 pm and 6 am had served its purpose.
