The apex court on Monday refused to entertain a plea by two independent Karnataka MLAs seeking court’s directions to quickly undertake the trust vote in the state Assembly.

The plea filed by H Nagesh and R Shankar said that they had withdrawn the support from the ruling government.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohtagi, appearing for the two legislators said that the floor test is being postponed for one reason or the other.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said: “Impossible… Tomorrow we may see to it.”

Karnataka is in political turmoil after several JD-S and Congress MLAs resigned from the assembly to topple the government headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
