Supreme Court Reserves Order On Rafale Review, Gives Two Weeks for Written Submissions

The Supreme Court on Friday reserved order on the petition seeking review of its December 14 verdict against a probe into the controversial fighter jet deal.

“ Rafale wasn’t being procured for ornamentation. It is for national security..for protection of each one of us. It is for everyone to see what’s happening around us. No other court in the world will examine a defence deal on these kinds of arguments,” Attorny general KK Venugopal told a bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi. He added that the RafaleDeal review case that the Govt was not required to submit all file notings, all papers in SC. “This court has already approved the decision making process in its Dec judgment. Where is the question of review?”  he asked. The AG also cited CAG report to argue India got Rafale at a cheaper price. “Will this Court sit on the computation of the prices? And what happens thereafter? Will this Court then fix the prices of aircrafts, avionics?” he said. .

The apex court which had also heard the three petitioners earlier  reserved its order and asked both sides to file their written submissions within two weeks.
