The Supreme Court has set aside the plea seeking reservation for persons who are disabled in Lok Sabha.
A bench Comprising of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud , Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra asked the need for the disclosure of disability status in nomination forms and the purpose.
The Court questioned as to why should there be a disclosure that a person is disabled in the nomination form?
The Court held that since the matter pertained with policy decision, the court intervention would not be a good idea.
The Petition that was filed by Jayant Raghav was dismissed on the above ground.
