The Supreme Court on Friday slammed PIL specialist advocate M L Sharma for filing a whimsical plea against the Centre’s abrogation of Article 370 that denied special status to Jammu & Kashmir.

A bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi said: “What kind of prayer is this. Your petition can be dismissed on technical grounds but we are not doing it because it may affect the other five pleas. Your annexure come later which have not been challenged.”

Sharma said: “I will file additional affidavit and file an amended petition.”

The bench also pulled up another petitioner Shabir Shakil for filing a similar faulty plea.

In another related petition filed by Kashmir Times Executive Editor Anuradha Bhasin who sought relaxation of media movement in the valley and the communication shutdown, the bench told the petitioner that restrictions on landline and broadline are likely to be removed by the evening today.

Attorney General K K Venugopal countering the submissions of Bhasin said the government has allowed Kashmir Times to print the newspaper.
