The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that it will pass orders on reuniting the girls of Muzaffarpur Sheltar home with their families tomorrow.

The court passed the order after perusing a status report by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) which stated that two dozen girls could be reunited.

It asked the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Bihar government to file response on TISS report tomorrow.

On the previous hearings, the court had asked TISS to file a report in four weeks to devise individual rehabilitation plans for 44 inmates who were sexually abused in the Muzaffarpur shelter home.

The court had directed TISS to submit a report on Bihar government’s plea seeking authorization to reunite the 44 children with their respective families.

Amicus Aparna Bhat had objected to the Bihar government’s plea and said it was not be favourable for the children as the trial was on and CBI was investigating it.

“The accused in the case can establish contact with the families,” Bhat had said.
